Canon La Chapelle

The vineyards for this small family owned estate are located in the commune of Fronsac. The location is called “La Côte Canon” which is the name of a site of an old stronghold from the time of Charlemagne. The site was a privileged place to defend Aquitaine from foreign invasions. Cannons prevented the passage of enemy boats on the Dorgogne. The estate covers 10 hectares of high plateau and clay-limestone slopes with excellent southern sun exposure. Winemaker Gonzague Maurice practices viticulture that respects the environment and the people. Focus on traditional soil work and natural grassing on the slopes; manual maintenance to limit yields and encourage the growth of only high quality grapes.
