Mad Bird
Produced & managed by 3rd generation winemaking family: Francisco & Eduardo Rodriguez.
Mad Bird is inspired by the mysterious Black Raven seen by Francisco & Eduardo’s grandfather in the first vineyard he purchased in Argentina in the 1930’s. Year after year, the color of the wines that come from that vineyard (called “Las Bayas”) were darker than grapes and vineyards near the area. The color of the wines are deep ink color like the feathers of the raven.
The estate totals 874 acres (353 hectares) of working vineyards located east of the Province of Mendoza in altitudes of 2,000+ feet above sea level. The dry, arid lands and desert dunes have been conditioned for creating grapes with a unique character that are nothing less than an homage to the noble traditional viticulture. Established over 80 years ago, the Rodriguez family has overcome challenges and readapted to the new expectations of a changing world market. By 2001, the winery started a full re-conversion of its vineyards including planting higher quality grapes and introducing new, cutting edge production technologies. With vision and experience, the Rodriguez family has realized how to fulfill the expectations of a versatile market and overdeliver on quality & value.
