St. Urbans-Hof Bockstein 'GG'
The term “GG” stands for dry premium Rieslings from Grand Cru vineyards which are characterized by using the finest and healthiest grapes from the best parcels only. Grapes are harvested late and thus fully mature at very low yields in order to enhance the flavors that develop in the skins. This leads to a limited production of highly aromatic wines with a refined structure. Every GG is given up to six months of barrel ageing in German oak of 1,000 ltr which further increases the finesse. The combination of a stable acidity and powerful body build the foundation for several years, if not decades, of ageing potential. Nik Weis produces a dry GG from his Bockstein, Goldtröpfchen, Laurentiuslay, Saarfeilser and Layet vineyards.
