Marras Red Blend
Marras Red Blend
The Shiraz, Cinsault, Grenache and Mourvèdre are hand-picked separately in crates during the early morning hours, allowing the grapes to arrive at the cellar cool and fresh.
Each variety is destemmed individually, with 10% whole clusters retained to add freshness, structure and complexity. Fermentation takes place separately, with a gentle approach to extraction. During fermentation, the cap receives one light splash in the morning and one in the evening, allowing for soft extraction while preserving the natural fruit character and freshness of each variety.
Following fermentation, the wines are matured separately for 12 months in larger, older barrels, allowing the fruit, tannins and different components to integrate without imposing excessive oak character.
After maturation, the individual wines are carefully blended to create the final MARRAS Swartland Red Blend, before being bottled and allowed to settle into harmony.
A vibrant and elegant Swartland red blend showing ripe cherries, dark plum and subtle spice on the nose. The palate is juicy and generous, with layers of red and dark fruit balanced by gentle tannins and a savoury spiced character. Matured in larger, older barrels, the wine retains its fresh fruit profile while gaining depth and complexity. Juicy, spicy and beautifully balanced, with a long, smooth finish.
